Green Energy: Wind Energy

The world is in a time in which we are powered primarily by burning fossil fuels to create the energy that society at a global scale requires. Of Course these fossil fuels are derived from inside the earth itself and is a finite resource. But many people seem to not be worried because a shortage in our typical lifespan is not very likely. Furthermore, issues are beginning to arise at a global scale which has been proven to be related to the rise in CO2 concentration within the atmosphere. This comes alongside with many negative effects such as the rise in sea level, melting polar ice caps, and rising global temperatures.
New innovative ways of course have been in the makes but none have the amount of energy on demand comparable to fossil fuels. Net carbon neutral energy methods include wind, solar, and biomass. These practices indeed are making small changes but haven’t been put to a national scale to see if clean-energy is possible.

The primary focus of this article is the notion that some places around the world are starting to include these clean energy practices. Also the fact that a country that is driven and ran around fossils fuels is seen making these pushes towards clean energy is promising for our future generations.

The example that is the focus here is the Bahrain World Trade Center, which is located in Manama, Bahrain. The significance of this skyscraper is that it incorporates wind turbines into the structure to produce a percentage of the buildings overall energy demand. There are three turbines that work in correlation with each other at different altitudes. Another cool quality that the architect included in the final design is the overall shape of the towers. The towers are built around the notion of a traditional sail boat as we can see in the photo. Not only is this aesthetically pleasing but is a huge property to functionality. The sail-like form works as its intend to use and funnels air between the two, ultimately creating a higher velocity.
Clean energy is the future!
